How to move Sonoff smart switch between wireless networks

 

I'm having Sonoff T0 UK Wifi Smart Switches all over my house and recently I wanted them to be connect to a different Wi-Fi network. I was planning to move all of them from my 4G router to my new Fibre router for smooth operation and doing so, I can take my 4G router anywhere I want without disturbing my smart switches.

There are few important things to be remembered when you're moving these devices between wireless networks and I like to share them with you before I explains the procedure.

Important

• When you delete the smart switch from the app (eWeLink in this example) you will reset the device, which means you will loose all the custom settings you applied for that switch including the names.
  
  
• If you're importing and using these devices in Google Home app, you have to add them back to the respective rooms you have created and also if they were used in any routines you have to add them again to it as well.

So, I will highly recommend you to note down anything you think important (Eg: Settings, device names etc.) before proceeding.

Steps

1. Connect your mobile phone to the wireless network you're going to switch these devices into. If required please turn on location service as well.
   
   
2. Open eWeLink app on your phone and navigate to the smart switch you're going to move between wireless networks.
   
   

  

    
3. Click on the switch to access details.

   
4. Click on the 3 dots sign on upper right hand corner of the screen to access settings.

  
5. Scroll to the bottom and press "Delete Device" button. This will remove the device from the app and will put the device back into pairing mode. (The blue Wi-Fi indicator light in the switch will blink rapidly)

   
6. Click on the "Add" button or "+" sign on the bottom row and select "Quick Pairing"

 
    7. Click on "Add one device" option

    8. Your new Wi-Fi network will be automatically selected for you and you can always choose a different network as well and then enter the correct password for the selected wireless network.

9. If you followed all above steps correctly, the app will find you device and register it quickly.

    10. Enter a name for your device and choose a room to add the device.

That's it. Now your device will be on the new wireless network and you have to follow the exact same procedure on all other switches.
