Packed with two NVIDIA GeForce GTX 280M graphic cards the new Alienware M17x is the most powerful 17 inch notebook in the universe. But you won't get this setup for the $1,799 starting price of this notebook which I think is too much. But, with it's nice look and performance it will be a great gaming notebook.

For the $1,799 base model you'll get a M17x notebook with Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 2.4GHz(3MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB) processor, Single NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M, 1GB graphic card, 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 RAMS at 1066MHz memory clock, 250GB 7,200RPM Hard drive, Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner and with Windows Vista Home Premium (64 bit)

With the use of Alienware Command Center you can customize the lighting on your notebook and AlienFusion allows you to manage power consumption of the notebook. This is equipped with AlienSense technology that identifies numerous distinguishing features of your face through its web cam and verify biometric measurements in the notebook.

Is it time to upgrade your PC ?

Computer technology is changing very quickly. New Hardware parts releasing very fast and even the Software is also changing very fast. So if you want to keep up with the phase you need to upgrade your computer more often. But if you are on a very tight budget this is not possible. But if you like to play newer computer games and like to use newer versions of software you'll definitely have to have a good hardware on your computer. Because not everyone is good at computer hardware knowledge they usually buy a new one. For my point of view this is wasting money. But in some cases you have to throw away your PC and have to buy an new one. For example, I'm still using a old Pentium 4 computer with DDR1 Rams and AGP Video card. So in my case there will be no upgrade. I have to buy or assemble (Which I always do) a new one because the technology changed so much that i can't use my old parts anymore. So, how will you decide when to upgrade your PC ?

If you are not in to Gaming or any other computer related professional work actually there is a very less chance that you want to upgrade your existing PC. If you are using it to surf the internet, listening to music or to word processing surely you want have to upgrade it. But one disadvantage of using a older system is if you want to replace a hardware part on it it will be really difficult or may be the price for that part may be too high.

Solid State Drive (SSD)

A solid state drive (SSD) is a data storage device that uses solid-state memory to store persistent data. An SSD emulates a hard disk drive interface, thus easily replacing it in most applications. Flash memory is increasingly being used for so called Solid State Drives, which are intended to replace the hard drive where performance takes priority over capacity. The good old HDD is constrained by mechanical components, which prevent quicker access times andperformance.

SSD's comes with 2.5" and 3.5" in size that's fit great on your Desktop PC or Notebook and you can have capacity up to 256 GB in size .

Advantages

  • Faster start-up, as no spin-up is required
  • Typically, fast random access for reading, as there is no read/write head to move
  • No noise
  • For low-capacity flash SSDs, low power consumption and heat production when it's active
  • Ability to endure extreme shock, high altitude, vibration and extremes of temperature
  • lower weight and size

Disadvantages
  • Cost
  • Capacity
  • Limited write (erase) cycles
  • Slower write speeds

DDR2 VS DDR3 Memory

DDR2 (Double Data Rate 2) is the current standard for the Ram’s (Random Access Memory) in your computers. For me, I’m still using DDR1 Ram’s because I have an old computer. But it’s going to replace with this new memory standard now. It’s called DDR3.

So, now you may think should I change my Ram’s to DDR3 now? No you don’t have to. But in the future you may want to change it. If you are a regular PC user, just browsing internet, doing word and excel documents you don’t need to change your memory. But if you are playing computer games and doing over clocking on your computer you definitely need to switch over to DDR3.

Nvidia Tesla

The Tesla GPU is NVIDIA's third brand of GPUs. It's based on high-end GPUs from the G80 and on, as well as the Quadro lineup. Tesla is NVIDIA's first dedicated General Purpose GPU. In this post I'm going to explain more about NVIDIA Tesla C1060 GPU Computing Processor.

The NVIDIA Tesla C1060 transforms a workstation into a high-performance computer that can dramatically outperform a small cluster. This gives technical professionals a dedicated computing resource at their desk-side that is much faster and more energy-efficient than a shared cluster in the data center.

Note Book vs Net Book

Today I’m going to explain our readers about a Net book. A net book is a very small, light weight, low cost, energy efficient laptop, generally optimized for internet based services such as web browsing and emailing. But don't think it's going to do all work that your notebook can do.

There is lot of limitations on a Net book. For example it has a slower processor, Small hard drive space, small screen and no optical drives. (CD/DVD Drives)On the other hand your notebook will have more power full processor, more hard drive space, bigger screen and CD/DVD drives.

Most of the time a net book will cost $350 - $500 and your notebook will cost you around $1000

You will find pre installed Linux and Microsoft Windows XP on net books as they are not ready for Windows Vista.

If you are more interested about this article please watch the following video also. This will explain a lot.
