Windows 7 Release To Manufacturing

Microsoft announced that you'll be able to get the final shipping product for Microsoft Windows 7 on October 22, 2009. If you need to try it before you buy it, still there is a chance. You can still download the Release Candidate (RC) but you can only download it until August 20, 2009. Like to know more about Windows 7 release candidate ? Currently only the English version is available to download.




According to the Windows 7 Team Blog On October 1st, the remaining languages will be released. You can download Windows 7 Starter, Windows 7 Home Basic, Windows 7 Home Premium, Windows 7 Professional, Windows 7 Enterprise or Windows 7 Ultimate both 64 bit (X64) and 32 bit (X86) editions from there. So, even this time they made 6 editions to make it difficult to choose one as same as they done with Windows Vista release earlier.

Windows 7 Installation

I have downloaded my copy of Windows 7 RC last week. The I decided to install it on my home computer which runs on Windows XP Professional. I have a very old Pentium 4 computer so, before the installation I want to check whether my computer suits for Windows 7. I have checked the minimum requirements for it from the Windows 7 Official website from Microsoft. It was Ok. So I have insert the disc to the drive and started the windows setup on top of Windows XP.

The initial screens were very beautiful. May be the most beautiful setup screens I have ever seen for a Operating system installation.






It's going to download some files from the internet to make every thing working smooth.






Have to Accept the Licenses Agreement.



Because I'm running it on top of Windows XP it's prompted me to upgrade it or to install a fresh installation on a different partition.



So, I have selected a empty partition for a new installation. (I don't want to say good bye to Windows XP, not yet ! )

Windows 7 Release Candidate

Microsoft just launch the Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) testing program. What it does is you can download a pre-release copy of Windows 7 on to your computer. The RC will be available at least through July 2009 and they're not limiting the number of product keys, so you have plenty of time to download it. Once you have downloaded it and install it to your PC, it will automatically and anonymously send Microsoft engineers the information they need to verify the fixes and changes they made based on the Windows 7 Beta tests.

In order to install this Windows 7 release your computer should meet with these system requirements.

1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor

1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)

16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)

DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

You can download both 32bit and 64bit versions of it and Windows 7 RC are available in five languages: English, German, Japanese, French, and Spanish. Go to this URL and start downloading your copy today.

The RC copy of Windows 7 will expire on June 1, 2010 and starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours. Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you’ll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010. So keep that in your mind too.

What's Inside Windows 7

Few days ago I have installed Windows 7 on a test computer. But I haven't got a time to check it. But today I thought to make a post about it. In this post you'll find some of the new things that included with windows 7. I'm writing this post using the same windows 7 computer.


Before we start; I'll let you people know my system configuration for this test computer.

Processor : Intel Celeron 2.8 GHz
RAM : 1.5 GB DDR 1
VGA : Geforce FX 5200 (AGP) 128MB
Hard Drive : 80 GB SATA
Optical Drive : Standard DVD ROM

That gives me a Rating of 2.0 on windows experience Index.




First thing I did notice was It's almost like windows Vista. But there are lot of changes have been made to it. The Task bar is changed. You won't have longer names displayed on it any more. It's just showing the program Icon now. If you open couple of windows for same program it's still showing you one Icon. But if you move your mouse over it, it will display all. Show desktop button has moved to the right hand coner of the taskbar.








One other change that i have noticed was when I’m taking the screen shots; they have changed the Microsoft Paint program. Now it's look like Microsoft office 2007 application. You can do many more things now with the paint program.





It's coming with Internet Explorer 8. So far I didn't find any errors on it.






Control pannel is little bit changed but pretty much same as windows vista. What's new is now you have a button called "All control pannel items" that's take you to the classic control pannel. Security center renamed as Action center in here and you'll find new item called "Biometric Devices" that's allow you to manage your finger print recognition device which help you to log in to the system.





Windows calculator is really good looking in Windows 7. Other than old Standard and Scientific mode it does have programmer mode and statistics mode. It's really cool.





Finally I found few more things as Sticky notes, new games and a cool resource monitor program.
